Student Mathematics League
The Student Math League (SML) is a competition where students individually take an exam which contains some nonstandard, challenging questions. Students compete both as individuals and as a member of a team representing their school, testing their problem-solving skills and seeing how they compare to others from around the nation. In lieu of the competition during the COVID pandemic (2020 – 2021), an online challenge was posted for individual enrichment. Follow this link for a full list of SML winners.
Student Research League
The Student Research League (SRL) is an annual competition that started in 2018. As a partnership between two-year college students and faculty mentors, the SRL’s goal is to provide STEM knowledge through an open-ended research problem. Scholarships, plaques, and other prizes are given nationally and regionally for outstanding submissions. Participation has continued to increase since the beginning of the competition. Follow this link for a full list of SRL winners.
Two-Year College DataFest
The Two-Year College DataFest is a weekend-long celebration of data in which teams of community college students work around the clock to find and share meaning in large, rich, and complex data sets. In 2022, AMATYC began hosting the Two-Year College DataFest (TYC DataFest) in conjunction with the American Statistical Association’s (ASA) DataFest. The TYC DataFest rewards outstanding student data analysis through a friendly event where students are encouraged to share ideas. Competitors also engage with professionals with statistics and data-analysis expertise. Follow this link for a list of DataFest awardees.
